Zombie Cocktail Recipe

A potent tropical cocktail made with a mix of rums, fruit juices, and a splash of grenadine, the Zombie is a tiki classic that’s both flavorful and strong.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 oz light rum
  • 1 1/2 oz dark rum
  • 1 oz overproof rum for float
  • 1 oz lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz papaya juice or passion fruit juice
  • 1/2 oz apricot brandy
  • 1/2 oz grenadine
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • Crushed ice
  • Pineapple wedge and mint sprig for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with crushed ice.
  • Add the light rum, dark rum, lime juice, pineapple juice, papaya juice, apricot brandy, grenadine, bitters, and simple syrup.
  • Shake vigorously until well chilled.
  • Pour the contents (including ice) into a tall tiki glass or highball glass.
  • Float the overproof rum on top by gently pouring over the back of a spoon.
  • Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a sprig of mint.
  • Serve with a straw and enjoy responsibly.

Notes

  • This cocktail is very strong; consume with caution.
  • Substitute papaya juice with passion fruit juice if unavailable.
  • Adjust grenadine and syrup for sweetness preference.
