Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • cups 150g chocolate cookie crumbs (or graham crackers with 2 tbsp cocoa powder)
  • 6 tbsp 85g unsalted butter, melted

For the Filling:

  • 3 large eggs room temperature
  • ¾ cup 180ml light corn syrup
  • ½ cup 100g granulated sugar
  • ½ cup 100g packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup 25g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • cups 150g chopped pecans
  • 1 cup 175g semi-sweet chocolate chips

Optional Toppings:

  • Whole pecans chocolate ganache drizzle, or chocolate chunks

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • I preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking for this rich chocolate pie.

Prepare the Crust

  • In a medium bowl, I mix 1½ cups chocolate cookie crumbs with 6 tbsp melted butter until well combined. I press the mixture firmly into a 9-inch pie pan, creating an even layer, and set it aside for this pecan chocolate dessert.

Make the Filling

  • In a large bowl, I whisk 3 eggs until frothy, then add ¾ cup corn syrup, ½ cup granulated sugar, ½ cup brown sugar, ¼ cup cocoa powder, 1 tsp vanilla, and ¼ tsp salt, mixing until smooth and glossy for a Southern chocolate treat.

Combine Ingredients

  • I gently fold in 1½ cups chopped pecans and 1 cup chocolate chips, ensuring even distribution for a balanced rich chocolate pie.

Bake the Pie

  • I pour the filling over the crust, spreading it evenly. I sprinkle extra pecans on top for crunch and bake for 35–40 minutes, until the edges are set and the center slightly jiggles. I let it cool completely for clean slices of this pecan chocolate dessert.

Garnish and Serve

  • Once cooled, I drizzle with chocolate ganache or add whole pecans for flair. I chill the pie in the fridge for 1–2 hours before slicing for a perfect Southern chocolate treat.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use high-quality cocoa powder.
  • Ensure the pie is completely cooled before slicing for clean edges.
  • This pie can be served warm or chilled, as per preference.
