- 450 g steak thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 green bell pepper sliced
- 1 onion sliced
- 8 to 10 slices White American cheese
- 567 g bag frozen waffle cut fries
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Set oven to 220°C.
Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil. Once hot, add thinly sliced steak. Season with garlic salt and black pepper, stirring to coat evenly. Sauté until browned on all sides. Remove steak and set aside.
Reserve 1 tablespoon cooking liquid in the skillet and discard the rest. Add green bell pepper and onion to the skillet. Cook until vegetables are tender, but bell pepper retains some crispness. Remove and set aside.
Remove skillet from heat. Spread waffle cut fries evenly in the skillet. Top with four slices of White American cheese. Layer on cooked steak and sautéed vegetables. Repeat the process, finishing with the remaining cheese slices on top.
Place skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from oven, allow to cool slightly, and serve hot.
- For extra flavor, garnish with chopped fresh parsley or chives before serving.
