Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup buttermilk
  • 0.5 cup M&Ms plus extra for topping

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Gradually add buttermilk to the wet mixture, stirring continuously.
  • Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the M&Ms gently.
  • Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Top with additional M&Ms before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, avoid overmixing the batter to keep the cupcakes light and fluffy.
  • Allow cupcakes to cool completely before frosting or decorating to prevent melting.
